Custom 206 Helicopter Package: By Steve Hanley, October 2003.

This Bell 206 has been modified and tuned by Steve Hanley, from a custom flight model by Dr. Steve Baugh that makes it fly much better than the stock model. Custom sounds including start-up and shut down sounds by Manual Gonzalez, custom touch down sounds by Steve Hanley, added effects upon landing and hovering over various terrains, a HUD panel, custom minipanel and a custom start-up panel.

The Helicopter comes complete with an overhead START-UP PANEL, that allows you to start this chopper as you would a real one. Several gauges and switches had to be custom made to make the start-up procedure function properly. The most important being a redesigned FUEL VALVE that now functions as it should as well as a customised STARTER on the collective

I have also modified the views so that, when hovering and in slow flight, the pilot can see the ground area in front of him/herself much more realistically than the stock views. the pilot is also sitting in the center of the chopper, which messes up the Virtual cockpit, but makes it much easier to see exactly what is going on when flying.

While not all of the work is my own, it is a compilation of many sources, and all freeware. I thank all the freeware authors who so generously give of their time to make this hobby more enjoyable.

I have improved and updated the original HUD for FS9 (2004) so that it is a complete Vector based HUD with no bitmaps required for it's operation. This makes it very fast and ultra-responsive for the demanding needs of helicopter pilots.

TO INSTALL THE COMPLETE PACKAGE:

Unzip the entire package to the AIRCRAFT folder in your FS2004 directory

Then unzip the GAUGES.zip (Lcated in the PANEL Directory) file to the main gauges directory of FS2002.

( DO NOT TRY AND UNZIP THE HELIHUD04.cab AS IT IS A COMPLETE GAUGE)

To activate this helicopter, select Aircraft, and under Aircraft manufacturer, select BELL. Under Model select 206B Jetranger, and under variation, select Jet Ranger 2 DF-01.

TO SETUP FOR FLIGHT

Drag the HUD so that it sits on the horizon when the Helicopter is sitting on the ground. Turn off the Generator, Master Battery, Avionics and Fuel Valve located on the Overhead console, and set the Collective Throttle to CLOSED.

Make sure the rotor blades on the chopper have completely stopped, then save the flight. Now, every time you start this flight, the HUD will be correctly postioned and the chopper will have the engine off, ready for start.

The START-UP Procedures are located in the KNEEBOARD CHECKLISTS

I Hope you enjoy this Helicopter.
